Colorado Eye Correction Surgery is for the most part a very painless and quick surgery. The actual eye surgery usually lasts only 30 minutes long with most doctors recommending around two hours of post surgery recovery time. Just to show you how simple it is, the Colorado eye correction surgery patient is placed onto a surgical table or chair and then has drops of anesthetic put in both eyes. This is done to ensure that there is not any pain felt by the corrective eye surgery patient as both eye should become completely numb.
Your lasik surgeon will then clean your eyes as well as the area around your eyes. To do this the eye surgeon will usually flush your eyes. This step is essential during eye correction surgery to ensure that the area is clean and it helps to prevent infection in the eye. A device designed to keep your eyes open during the surgery will then be placed on the eyes. The next step in the process is to place rings on the eyes, this creates suction on the cornea so it is easier for the lasik surgeon to make a small incision on the cornea of your eyes. The doctor does this using an instrument called a microkeratome. When the surgeon is at this point the patient may be experiencing some dimmed vision and some discomfort. The best thing for the patient to do is to remain still and call so that the lasik surgeon can complete the surgery the best way possible.
The next step in the Colorado eye correction surgery process is when the lasik surgeon actual makes the incision on the eyes using the microkeratome. The surgeon will ask the patient to stare at a small blinking light while the incision is made. It is important that the eyes remain focused and in the proper position so staring at the blinking light is the technique used to accomplish this. After the lasik surgeon makes the incisions on both eyes the suction rings and the eye cutting instrument are removed from the eyes. This will allow the eyes to be able to see again however the patient’s eyes will be somewhat blurry because the flap in the cornea has been made.
The lasik surgeon will ask you to continue staring at the light while the actual eye correction part is conducted. To do the doctor will use a laser called an excimer laser, which is used to shape the eye. The Colorado eye correction surgery is done by smoothing areas of the cornea with the laser to allow the eyes to naturally focus light. After the surgeon finishes up reshaping the eyes the corneal flap will be placed back over the eyes, which help them to heal and provides protection. The Colorado eye surgery patient will have the areas around the eye cleaned and then will be sent to recovery for a couple of hours. The whole process is virtually painless and takes such a short period of time that it can be well worth it for those considering Colorado eye correction surgery.
